There is a belief that a girl who kisses the bronze plumber at the Pushkin Bathhouse will surely meet a hardworking and romantic young man. This legend was created for the monument to the Perm water supply. The history of the monument begins in the 19th century. On June 26, 1886, under the guidance of provincial mechanic S. A. Khodakovsky, the construction of the first water supply for the Alexandrovskaya Hospital began in Perm, based on the project by Professor Balinsky. This year marked the starting point in the history of the Perm water supply, which celebrated its 120th anniversary in 2006. In honor of this date, a competition was held in the city to create a sculptural composition titled 'Water.' The winner was Rustam Ismagilov's work, the Plumber Monument. The bronze figure of a man sitting on a pipe with a wrench in hand, thoughtfully gazing at a seashell, was installed on September 2, 2006. This sculpture also reminds the residents of Perm that water is as valuable as a pearl in a shell, and it must be preserved.
