Water Tower

Фото 1
This water tower was built at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and has an interesting, albeit sad, history. Over its existence, it has drastically changed its purpose. With the growth of the population and the expansion of the city, the residents of Ufa moved further away from the river, creating inconveniences. In 1899, it was decided to build the first socially significant facility to provide residents with water.

The tower survived the 1917 Revolution and the Great Patriotic War, continuing to serve the citizens until it was replaced by more modern technologies. In the early 1950s, it stood idle until it was converted into an observatory for monitoring space satellites in 1957. However, its new role lasted only a short time, and the observatory was closed in 1976.

Today, the tower is in a deplorable state. Despite its advantageous location near the historical center of the city, it has been forgotten. It is gradually deteriorating, yet still proudly towers over the city, reminding of its rich life. Perhaps the city authorities will pay attention to it and find a new purpose, such as opening the long-promised museum within it.

Address: Ufa, Altai Street, 4a.
