The Vazhkur Holy Mother of God Church is located in the village of Vazhkurya, in the Kortkeros district of the Republic of Komi. Originally, it was situated in the Ustyuzhna district of the Vologda province. The church was rebuilt from a wooden chapel erected in 1700 and was consecrated in 1849. Until 1860, it was affiliated with the Pezmog Church.

In 1875, the church burned down, and on December 30 of the same year, a temporary house church was consecrated in the building of the church parish school. In 1878, a new one-story wooden church with a bell tower was built. The altar, dedicated to the Assembly of the Most Holy Theotokos, was consecrated on November 22, 1878, by priest Alexander Shchetinin of the Pezmog Prokopyev Church, with the blessing of Bishop Theodosius of Vologda and Ustyuzhna. In 1890, the church was sheathed with planks and whitened on the outside, and in 1893, it was painted sky blue on the inside.

In 1896, by the decree of the Vologda Spiritual Consistory, a wooden chapel was built in honor of the Great Martyr Panteleimon, as a vow during a typhus epidemic. On the saint's feast day, a procession was held there after the liturgy, and molebens were served. The parish also held processions: in early July across the fields and meadows, on July 20 and August 16 to the cross by the church.

The church was closed in 1938. On May 16, 1996, the restored temple was reconsecrated by Bishop Pitirim of Syktyvkar and Vorkuta in the name of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos. In the autumn of the same year, the church was transferred to the newly formed skete of the Ulyanovsk Monastery, and later to the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos Monastery.
