The Vavozh District Local History Museum was founded in 1991. Since 2008, it has been located in the center of the village of Vavozh, in an old two-story mansion built in the late 19th century.

The museum's exhibits introduce guests to the history of the ancient village of Vavozh and the traditional crafts of the region's peasants from the early 20th century. In the museum halls, visitors not only view the exhibitions but also actively participate in various events: solving riddles and crosswords, studying ancient games and customs, as well as watching video materials. Upon request, museum staff organize walking tours of the village, during which they introduce visitors to the main attraction, the Holy Nicholas Church, built according to the design of 19th-century architect S. E. Dudin in 1835, as well as other ancient buildings that have survived to this day.

Various museum events, such as exhibition presentations, the "Night at the Museum" initiative, "Night of the Arts," and "Cadet Day," are very popular among visitors.
