Viktor Mikhailovich Vasnetsov (May 3, 1848, Lopyal, Vyatka Province, July 23, 1926, Moscow) was a Russian painter and architect, specializing in historical and folklore painting. He became the founder of the "Neo-Russian style," which emerged from the historical genre and romantic movements related to folklore and symbolism. Vasnetsov's works significantly influenced the development of domestic visual art, transitioning from the era of the Wanderers to the Art Nouveau style. His younger brother, Apollinary Vasnetsov, was also an artist.
