The museum is located in a historic building that was once the residence of the Stroganovs, in the center of the Perm estates. Its luxurious palace facade stands out among neighboring structures, yet harmoniously blends with the church and bell tower built in the early 18th century in the 'Moscow' baroque style, when classicism was already beginning to dominate in the capital.

The uniqueness of the building lies in the preservation of elements of 17th-century architecture, combining the Moscow style with borrowings from the northern Perm wooden architecture. This is particularly noticeable on the northern and western facades, where 'axes' and 'turned' capitals of the columns emphasize the wooden heritage of Northern Perm.

A feature of local baroque is that, unlike European styles, which created artificial spaces, Russian rural architecture obeyed the surrounding landscape. This suited the master-peasant, who drew inspiration and materials from nature.

European influence is most evident on the elongated eastern facade, which connects the building with the horizon of the Kama Valley. This facade, with its massive porch, groups of windows, exquisite patterns of the trim, and the contrast of wall and decor colors, is visible from afar.

The palace-house is so beautiful and harmonious that it seems to resonate. The stone lace creates a solemn chord, upon which cheerful and graceful melodies are laid. It is not just a house, but a true symphony.

After a long reconstruction that began in 2002, the building is gradually regaining its former appearance. For almost half a century, it was abandoned, and short-term repairs did not save it from destruction.

With the museum's opening, not only regular repairs are being carried out in the chambers, but lost elements are also being restored. The chambers have once again seen tiled stoves, forged trims and doors, and ornate window grilles. The surrounding area has become accessible and convenient for viewing.
