The history of the Big Vyazemy estate changed in 1917, when two revolutions occurred in Russia, leading to the looting of noble estates. The Golitsyns, in order to save their lives, were forced to leave the country, and their descendants now live in various corners of the world. The son of the last owner, young officer Boris Golitsyn, fought in the army of Baron Wrangel and died near Tsaritsyn. The estate was looted and suffered greatly, while the surviving exhibits of the Golitsyn family ended up in various museums.

For a long time, the estate served as a rest house and a place for walks, later a collective farm was organized here, where peasants were forcibly resettled. The Soviet government used Vyazemy for its needs: an airfield and a hospital were located here. For some time, attempts were made to engage in horse breeding at the estate, but unsuccessfully.

Only in 1987 was the decision made to create the Pushkin Historical and Literary Reserve, which includes the Golitsyn estate and the estate of the poet's grandmother, Zakharovo. Today, Big Vyazemy is one of the most beautiful places in the Moscow region and a museum-reserve. The Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral and the bell tower from the time of Godunov, the palace, two wings, the stable yard, and an ancient bridge built by Prince Golitsyn in the first half of the 19th century have been preserved. The palace now houses a museum with exhibits that remind visitors of the former owners. On the old stoves, one can see tiles with Masonic symbols, confirming the interests of some members of the Golitsyn family. Although few personal belongings and elements of decor belonging directly to the Golitsyns have survived, they create a special atmosphere when visiting the museum.

The museum's exhibition is divided into several rooms. Here you can see the living room, a home theater, the study of Dmitry Golitsyn, a Masonic room with unusual ceilings, and an exhibition dedicated to hunting. Visitors to the estate can learn not only about the noble way of life but also about many other interesting topics.
