The village of Krutoyarsk is located in a picturesque spot on the banks of the Oka River. Its main attraction is the partially preserved estate of the Maksutov family (Olenin). Only three buildings remain from its former splendor: the main manor house, a Gothic cottage, and the so-called "Chinese tower."

The estate, built in the first half of the 19th century, belonged to several owners, whose remains rest in the local cemetery. One of them was Prince N.V. Maksutov, under whom the estate acquired its architectural style. Prince Maksutov loved rural life and came here whenever possible to engage in improvements. His heirs sold the estate to V.A. Olenina in 1863, and it remained in her family until the revolution.
