A memorial plaque dedicated to Dr. Snegirev is installed on the wall of the house.

The castle-like house was built for the esteemed professor and outstanding physician of the late 19th century, Vladimir Fedorovich Snegirev. Nearby is a clinic named after him. Previously, it was the Women's Diseases Clinic of Moscow University, and now it is the V.F. Snegirev Clinic of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University.

Dr. Snegirev's estate appeared in Plyushchikha in 1893-1894. Before that, there was another estate with small buildings scattered across the plot. One of them has survived to this day and dates back to the first quarter of the 19th century. In 1852, the estate belonged to the titular councilor N.A. Leontiev.

V.F. Snegirev, who purchased the estate in the 1890s, commissioned architect R. Klein to reconstruct one of the outbuildings, giving it a romantic appearance in the style of European medieval architecture. A small castle with pointed roofs, turrets, and balconies adorned the plot.

The choice of architect was not accidental. R. Klein often worked for Snegirev's patron, philanthropist P.G. Shelaputin. Simultaneously with the estate, Klein began construction of the Gynecological Institute on Olsufyevsky Lane, not far from the professor's residence and workplace.

A.P. Chekhov mentioned him in a letter to E.M. Shavrova: “All gynecologists are idealists. The famous Snegirev speaks of the 'Russian woman' with a tremor in his voice.” He also noted that “a good gynecologist cannot be a foolish person or a mediocrity.”

V.F. Snegirev was referred to as a “wizard” who “loves to heal.” Being an excellent therapist and surgeon, he was able to alleviate the suffering of his patients.

When the construction of the Clinics of Devichye Pole began, Snegirev was 35 years old. He had been teaching at the university since he was 28, created his own “Snegirev school,” and founded the Moscow Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

His name is associated not only with the clinic and maternity hospital but also with many symptoms and surgical methods he introduced into clinical practice.

V.F. Snegirev lived in his estate in Devichye Pole from 1895 to 1916.

During the Soviet era, the house changed hands frequently and belonged to various agencies. Among local residents, there were rumors that it housed safe houses for military intelligence officers.

In 2011, the estate became involved in unpleasant real estate machinations.

Currently, Dr. Snegirev's estate is in a deplorable state.
