In the village of Danilovskoye, Ustyuzhsky District, Vologda Oblast, lies the House-Museum of the Batyushkovs and A.I. Kuprin, which was once the estate of the noble Batyushkov family. This place is associated with many amazing legends. Nearby, an ancient park with artificial ponds has been preserved, where a monument to the poet K.N. Batyushkov stands. The former manor house now houses a museum exhibition. The Danilovskoye estate has the status of a federal heritage site: on the first floor, there is an exhibition dedicated to the Batyushkov family, while on the second, the museum of the writer A.I. Kuprin, who often came here to rest and work.

Previously, the village of Danilovskoye was the estate of the noble Batyushkov family, known since the 16th century. In the 17th century, it belonged to them as an estate and later became a domain. The manor house was built in the late 18th century by Lev Andreyevich Batyushkov, the grandfather of the poet Konstantin Nikolayevich Batyushkov, and was reconstructed in 1812-1813 by his father Nikolai Lvovich.

Until 1917, the estate remained in the possession of the Batyushkov family and was passed down through the male line. After the revolution, the estate was nationalized and changed hands many times. In 1960, at the initiative of local historians, a folk museum of Batyushkov and Kuprin was opened here.

In 1987, to mark the 200th anniversary of Konstantin Batyushkov's birth, a monument to the poet was erected in the park. Today, the manor house is a federal heritage site, with interiors recreated from the 18th-19th centuries. On the second floor, there is an exhibition dedicated to the writer Alexander Ivanovich Kuprin, who frequently visited here from 1906 to 1911 at the invitation of his friend, Professor Fyodor Dmitrievich Batyushkov. Kuprin rested, hunted, and worked productively in Danilovskoye, where he wrote the stories "Sulamith," "Emerald," "The River of Life," began the novella "The Pit," and conceived "The Garnet Bracelet." In the stories "Black Lightning," "The Grasshopper," and "The Zavyraika," he described Danilovskoye and Ustyuzhna. Kuprin was also drawn to his friendship with the estate manager Ivan Alexandrovich Arapov. In 1918, he wrote to him from Gatchina: "Greetings to the Danilovskoye pines, people, and animals. I would give anything to return to the Danilovskoye times...".

On September 11, 2010, the museum celebrated a double anniversary: 50 years since its founding and 140 years since the birth of Alexander Kuprin. Descendants of the Batyushkov family attended the celebration, including Valery Alexandrovich Rabizov and his family.

To this day, a two-story wooden building with columns has been preserved, adjacent to an old park and a pine alley. Here, the childhood years of Konstantin Nikolayevich Batyushkov, a famous poet and representative of early Russian Romanticism, were spent. In 1807, he came here to visit his father and sisters. The estate had a large library, which contains a lifetime edition of the poet's works "Experiments in Verse and Prose," published in 1817.

Today, the museum staff uphold the traditions of this house as a cultural and educational center. Lectures, salon evenings, Christmas trees, and game programs are held for visitors. The estate impresses with its well-kept appearance.
