The Alekseyev Estate, one of the Moscow estates from the late 18th and early 20th centuries, is located in the city center, just a 10-15 minute walk from the Taganskaya metro station.

The stone house, built in 1767, belonged to the city head and merchant V.Ya. Zhigarev. In 1791 and 1795, the building was completely reconstructed according to the design of architect R.R. Kazakov.

After the fire of 1812, the estate was purchased by S.A. Alekseyev, the owner of a factory producing gold and silver items. The Alekseyev family owned the estate until the end of the 19th century. Here, the famous actor and director Konstantin Sergeyevich Alekseyev, better known as Stanislavsky, was born.

In the late 19th century, the estate passed to the Moscow Merchant Society. In 1907, the main house and outbuildings were partially reconstructed according to the design of V.V. Sherwood.

After the revolution, the building was nationalized and used for communal apartments. One of them was inhabited by the sister of A.A. Tarkovsky, where V.M. Shukshin stayed when he came to study in Moscow.

Today, various commercial organizations and the Academy of CAD and GIS are located in the former main house of the Alekseyev Estate, while the outbuildings remain residential.
