Today, the Tikhoretsk Historical and Local Lore Museum is considered one of the best in the region. Over 30,000 people visit it annually, and the number of exhibitions organized from its own collections and those of other museums ranges from 15 to 20 on various topics. The museum's collections hold more than 19,000 exhibits.

The Tikhoretsk archive contains a decision from the city executive committee dated March 1, 1959, regarding the opening of the historical museum in the building of the Menchikov Club. The museum did not emerge from nowhere; significant research work preceded it. Although the decision was made in March 1959, the first visitors were only able to enter the museum, located on the first floor of the Menchikov Club, in 1963. Finding a suitable space and arranging the exhibition took more than four years.

Grigory Avksentyevich Dzekun, the editor of the newspaper 'Lenin's Path' (now 'Tikhoretsk Vesti'), collected materials on the history of the city for many years. His contribution to the creation and opening of the museum is invaluable: he worked in regional archives and libraries and was the first director of the museum until 1982. Veterans of the revolution, the Civil War, and the Great Patriotic War, as well as veterans of educational labor and simply residents who love their city, also played an important role in the museum's establishment. They restored the history of Tikhoretsk based on the memories of old-timers, newspaper publications, and archival materials.

In 1969, the museum occupied an area of 178 square meters, and its collections included about 3,500 exhibits, including documents, photographs, awards, coins, books, and weapons. The main theme of the local museum's exhibition at that time was the revolutionary history of Tikhoretsk, the patriotism of Soviet people, and their combat and labor traditions. In August 1969, when the museum became a branch of the Krasnodar Regional Historical and Archaeological Museum-Reserve, it was renamed the 'Tikhoretsk Historical and Revolutionary Museum.'
