The west wing of the Ostankino Palace, owned by Count Sheremetev, has reopened to visitors after 13 years of restoration. Count N. Sheremetev, who lived in the 18th century, was a prominent statesman, but he is best remembered as a great connoisseur of art and theater. This luxurious palace, built in 1798, stands out with its stunning decor, including ancient bronze sculptures, fabric-covered walls, gilding, stucco, vaulted ceilings, wood carvings, and magnificent chandeliers. Restorers painstakingly restored every detail over many years, and they take particular pride in the restoration of the original 18th-century wallpaper. The Ostankino Palace is a state museum and is open to visitors.
