The David N. Dinkins Manhattan Municipal Building in New York (the first four photos), built in 1914, became a key prototype for the Stalinist skyscrapers of Moscow. It is one of the first high-rise administrative buildings in the world, where the skyscraper was used both as a building and as a symbol of state power. Its tiered composition, powerful central volume, and emphasized verticality had a significant impact on the development of high-rise construction in the 20th century.

This model, a monumental tower with a clear axial structure, was closely studied by Soviet architects. As a result, the ideas embedded in the New York municipal building were further developed within the framework of Soviet ideology and urban planning tasks.

In the late 1940s and early 1950s, an ensemble of seven high-rise buildings was created in Moscow, which entered history as the "Seven Sisters." It includes the main building of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov on Sparrow Hills, the Ukraine Hotel, the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation on Smolensk Square, a residential building on Kotelnicheskaya Embankment, a building on Kudrinskaya Square, a skyscraper at Krasnye Vorota, and the Leningradskaya Hotel.

These buildings are executed in the style of Stalinist Empire, combining classicism, Art Deco, and national motifs. Like their American prototype, they symbolized power and status but featured richer decor and a pronounced ideological load. Thus, drawing on the experience of New York, Moscow acquired a unique architectural ensemble that became an integral part of its historical appearance.
