The museum, founded in 1982 and granted the title of 'People's' in 1984, actively engages in preserving and reviving the traditions of the Semeiskie. Its hall features unique exhibits collected by local residents, including items related to the history of religion, everyday life, and the culture of the Semeiskie. Visitors can see books, icons, household items, and clothing from pre-Petrine Russia. The museum's exhibition also tells about the military and labor feats of the residents of the Tarbagatai district through photographs, front-line letters, and awards.

The museum houses a decorative and applied arts workshop 'House of Crafts', where folk crafts are developed and supported. Here, workshops are held for sewing Semeiskie costumes and dolls, creating jewelry, weaving belts, making folk dolls and items from straw and birch bark, as well as patchwork sewing, crocheting, weaving, wood painting, and creating felt products.

On average, about 10 children and teenagers participate in each of these workshops. In addition to classes, folk celebrations are held, in which the House of Crafts actively participates, organizing and preparing events for Village Days, Senior Citizens Day, Mother's Day, Victory Day, and Children's Day. The House of Crafts also conducts master classes and exhibitions.

The 'Family Heritage' Museum is a branch of the MBUK 'CDC' of the Tarbagatai district.
