The Tabun District Local History Museum began its work on February 26, 1983. Two employees are working on the preservation and development of its collection. The museum's funds contain more than 3,770 items, of which 3,010 exhibits are presented in the exhibition and are part of the main funds. Preparation for the creation of the museum began in September 1981, and the exhibition plan was approved by T. Varaksina, head of the history department of Soviet society at the Altai State Local History Museum.

The museum was created with the active participation of the entire district, and a Council of 16 people was established for its organization. The first exhibitions of the museum told about the brave and ordinary people who lived and live in the district. Sections were arranged dedicated to the pre-revolutionary period, the transformation of the village in the 1920s-30s, life in the district during the war, the development of virgin lands, agriculture, and socio-cultural development. Visitors are attracted by household items, valuable documents and letters, memories of honored people in the district, exhibitions about the development of local enterprises, displays of folk craftsmen, and performances by the puppet theater. The museum operates as a non-profit institution specializing in local history and does not aim to generate profit, nor does it distribute it among participants.
