In 1990, the city administration leased the building of the former cafe "Lada," where an Orthodox community and a prayer house in honor of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos were organized. The priest Eugene Mosiagin became the rector. The first Divine Liturgy took place on December 19, 1990, on the feast day of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, and regular services began on August 28, 1991.

The building that housed the church was in poor condition. Only after its purchase was it possible to carry out repairs. An altar in honor of Saint Sergius of Radonezh was consecrated in the church.

With the increase in the number of parishioners, the church could no longer accommodate everyone, and it was decided to build a new large church. In 1993, Archimandrite Kirill Nakonechny, now the Metropolitan of Yekaterinburg and Verkhoturye, consecrated the Assumption Church on the feast of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, and services began there. The church was rebuilt several times to increase its capacity, and in 2014 it took on its current appearance. The Assumption Cathedral houses the miraculous icon of the Mother of God "The Inexhaustible Cup," written with the blessing of Saint Blessed Matrona of Moscow, as well as part of her relics. Additionally, the church contains icons with particles of the relics of Saint Nicholas, Saint Sergius of Radonezh, the miraculous icon of the Mother of God "Three-Handed," and reliquaries with particles of the relics of God's servants.

The building that housed the Nativity of the Theotokos Church was repaired and reconstructed. In the summer, a dome was erected over the church, new doors were installed, square windows were replaced with semicircular ones, and the construction of a bell tower began. The new church was consecrated in the winter of 1994 in honor of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos, with an altar in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "The Inexhaustible Cup." The Protection Church contains a reliquary with particles of the relics of the Holy Fathers of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, a reliquary with crowns containing parts of the relics of Princes Peter and Fevronia of Murom, and icons with particles of the relics of Great Martyr George the Victorious, Blessed Matrona of Moscow, and Princess Anna of Kashin.

In 2013, Archimandrite Lavr decided to build a summer church for outdoor services during the warm season. The church was erected and consecrated in honor of the Holy Myrrhbearers within a few weeks, and the first service was held on Easter, May 5.

After the death of Archimandrite Lavr, the first builder and beautifier of the Holy Assumption Men's Monastery, Metropolitan Alexiy of Tula and Efremov blessed the creation of a house-museum and memorial room. In 2018, on the feast day of the Holy Martyrs of Illyria Flora and Lavra, a church was consecrated in their honor above the northwestern gates of the monastery. A wall with five towers, each with its own name, and three gates has been built around the monastery.
