The history of St. Nicholas Cathedral dates back to the 19th century, when the Orthodox community of the village of Armavir, consisting of settlers from the central regions of Russia, significantly increased. The small church in the neighboring village of Prochnookopskaya could no longer accommodate all the parishioners. The idea of building a new church was supported by local merchants, who made significant donations for its construction.

The Nicholas Church was built in 1892. Initially, it accommodated about 800 people, but after renovations, its capacity increased to 2000 parishioners. In 1939, the church was destroyed by a decision of the city council, and it was only restored in 2004.

Although the cathedral was built relatively recently, its architecture fully adheres to the traditions of religious architecture. The facade replicates the outlines of the church destroyed during the Soviet era but is executed in a more restrained style. The white walls, devoid of decoration, harmonize with the emerald roof and rounded window openings with ornate grilles. Six gilded domes crown the crosses, and one of them is adorned with bright blue paint and golden stars.

Inside the cathedral, there is plenty of light due to the large number of windows and the absence of frescoes on the walls and ceiling. Opposite the entrance, behind the main altar, is a three-tiered iconostasis created by contemporary craftsmen.
