The Sukholozhsky Local History Museum, one of the museums in the Sverdlovsk region, was opened in August 2001 and is located in the building of the city palace of culture "Kristall." Interestingly, the word "museum" translates from Greek as "temple of the muses," and above the windows of this museum, six muses are indeed depicted. If you find yourself in Sukhoy Log, be sure to visit this museum, which preserves inspiration and creativity.

Sukhoy Log is located on the site of an ancient coral sea, so the nature department of the museum features a special collection of fossilized corals. These corals, after hundreds of millions of years, became the basis for cement production, which is the main product of the city. The museum's collections hold about 4,000 exhibits, including ethnography, archaeology, minerals, applied and fine arts, numismatics, and much more. The main theme of the museum is the history of Sukhoy Log, a city that once lay at the bottom of the ancient Rifean Sea. Fossilized corals and other organisms from this sea are still actively used in local industry for the production of high-quality cement. Museum visitors can see an interesting collection of marine fossils found in local limestone quarries.

The museum also features a cozy corner dedicated to the everyday life of the first Russian settlers, where you can see a working weaving loom. The works of local artists and writers, for which the Sukholozhsky land is famous, will evoke bright emotions. The stories of the heroism of the residents of the working settlement of Sukhoy Log, who contributed to the Great Victory, will also inspire. A unique section, the Museum of Sailors of Sukholozhye, is of particular interest. The maritime past of this territory continues to inspire young hearts to dream of ships and distant journeys. Strike a real ship's bell, and the dream of the sea will surely come true!
