Guesthouse of the Trinity Stepan-Makhri Women's Monastery in Makhra

Фото 1
The guesthouse is located in the northwest part of the monastery complex. This two-story building with a wooden upper structure was built, presumably, in the second half of the 19th century. The first floor has a rectangular shape. The second floor, made of logs, was clad with boards on the outside and plastered on the inside. A wooden staircase with two flights, located in the corridor, led to the second floor. The corridor divided the house into two equal parts, northern and southern. Along the longitudinal walls of these parts, in the eastern rooms, there were stoves that heated the western rooms. The stoves have not survived to this day.

In 1993, the building was severely damaged by a fire, which resulted in the second floor burning down, leaving only a charred fragment of the southwest corner.

In 1996, the building was almost completely restored. Currently, the guesthouse houses the cells of the residents, as well as sewing and icon painting workshops.
