The statue of Anna Pavlova adorns the dome of the London theater "Victoria Palace." The gilded figure of the ballerina soars at a height of over 50 meters, gracefully standing on one leg. The idea to install the sculpture of the Russian ballerina on the roof belonged to the building's owner, Alfred Butt. Upon first seeing Pavlova on stage in 1910, he was struck by her talent and became her devoted admirer.

When the theater building was set to be reconstructed, Alfred Butt, in a sign of admiration and gratitude to the talented dancer, ordered her gilded figure to be placed at the highest point of the new building. Superstitious Pavlova did not approve of such a form of tribute and never saw the statue during her lifetime. Each time she passed by the theater, she not only avoided looking in its direction but also carefully drew the curtains.

The first statue was installed in 1911 and remained on the theater's dome until 1939. With the onset of the war, it was removed for camouflage, and the traces of the sculpture were lost. In 2006, an exact replica of the first statue was installed on the theater's dome.

The "Victoria Palace" theater is located in the very center of London, near Buckingham Palace. It is a vibrant landmark of the city and has a rich history, which is not surprising, as its existence spans centuries.
