It was not easy for the Old Believers to settle in the USA. In Oregon, they initially worked on farms growing berries for their sponsors, as many needed to pay off debts from their move and get back on their feet. Local farmers were interested in this, as entire large families of Old Believers would come out to harvest. Men often worked in logging, and some found jobs in factories, accepting any work to feed their families and pay off relocation debts. Old Believers were not always desirable workers in American enterprises, mainly due to religious holidays when they took 'unplanned' days off. However, their ability to adapt to local conditions helped them successfully settle in their new home. Over time, large farms owned by Old Believers appeared in the USA.

Russian Old Believers are easily distinguishable from other residents. Women wear headscarves and long skirts, while men wear embroidered shirts, belted with sashes, and have beards. In the town of Woodburn and its surroundings, there are up to a dozen Old Believer temples, most of which belong to the Bezpopovtsy, except for the Ascension Temple in the village of Bethlehem. There are also communities of Russian Molokans, Dukhobors, and Pentecostals here.
