Until the early 20th century, the Old Believers of Ryazan did not have their own church and held services in prayer houses. In 1904, Ryazan merchant Feodot Ignatievich Maslennikov, with the support of his brothers, decided to build a church at his own expense. Despite the persecution of Old Believers, he acquired land for a cemetery and built a guardhouse where the first services were held. In 1904, the cemetery plot was enclosed by a stone wall by order of the Ryazan Provincial Administration. After the decree of Emperor Nicholas II on religious tolerance in 1905-1906, Maslennikov submitted a petition to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ryazan Provincial Administration for permission to build a church at the cemetery. The petition included a construction plan approved by Old Believer Archbishop Ioann.

Preparatory work began in 1907-1908, when the project for a stone church with a bell tower was approved. In the summer of the following year, the first stone was laid. The Church of the Holy Virgin was consecrated in honor of Her icon "Joy of All Who Sorrow." At a community meeting on November 21, 1910, Priest Erasm Ivanovich Pchelin was elected the spiritual father of the church. In 1912, the bells were consecrated and raised on the bell tower. After 12 years of service, Pchelin was transferred to Yegoryevsk, and his place was taken by Father Dmitry Varakin, who assisted Bishop Alexander during the Civil War. In 1929, Varakin was transferred to another parish, but services continued until 1937, when repressions began and the church was closed.

The last priest before the Great Patriotic War was Father Timofey, who was arrested and executed. From 1937 to 1945, the church remained closed and looted. Since 1991, the buildings of the church complex have been handed over to the community, which, under the guidance of Priest Alexander, is actively engaged in their restoration. Brothers in Christ are carrying out restoration work, striving to return the church to its former appearance.
