One of the most beautiful pre-revolutionary mansions in Moscow is rightly considered to be the historic Morozov house, founded in 1879. Today, the alley where it is located is called Podsosenka, but it was previously known as Barashevsky and Vvedensky. The house was built at the request of Vikul Eliseevich Morozov, whose father had previously purchased the old estate from the manufacturer Plavilshchikov. It took less than two years to construct the new mansion, designed by the outstanding architect Mikhail Nikolayevich Chichagov, who soon passed away after.

The Morozov mansion is executed in an eclectic style and adorned with numerous exquisite architectural details. Thanks to the master's talent, sculptures of cherubs and ancient Roman gods symbolizing trade appeared on the facade. Prominently displayed on the building is the letter 'M', the first letter of the owner's surname. Above one of the windows is the date of construction, and at the entrance to the house are sculptures of ancient atlantes. The gates leading to the estate's courtyard are also quite beautiful.

After the Bolsheviks came to power, the fate of the Morozov mansion unfolded similarly to many other houses. In 1917, the property was confiscated, and the house was occupied by anarchists, followed by various organizations. Fortunately, a significant portion of the interiors has been preserved, and in our time, the building has been restored. Currently, it houses some organization, but the mansion itself continues to delight with its appearance. One hopes that it reminds passersby of old Moscow, its merchants, and its beauties.
