Transfiguration of the Savior, Prayer House in Zagoskino

Фото 1
In Zagoskino, in the 1960s, a magnificent church with three altars was destroyed. The village was known for its craftsmen: carpenters and builders. In the church of the village of Ignatov, there is an icon of the "Burning Bush" with an inscription stating that it was gifted to the residents of Zagoskino in gratitude for their labors by the Holy Panteleimon Monastery on Mount Athos, where it was painted. It is likely that the craftsmen from Ignatov helped to improve the monastery on Holy Athos. There is a legend preserved in church archival documents that mentions the icon of the "Life-Giving Spring."

The new wooden church, built by the parishioners in 1888, is unheated and surrounded by a wooden fence. It has three altars: the main one is dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Lord, the right side altar to the Nativity of Christ, and the left one to the holy unmercenaries and miracle workers Cosmas and Damian.
