The Soviet Local History Museum was founded on January 14, 1979, by the decision of the district executive committee, thanks to the initiative of the local community, war and labor veterans. Its creation is associated with the name of Nikolai Alexandrovich Nemtsov, a teacher, participant in the Great Patriotic War and the Battle of Kursk, a labor veteran and local historian. War veterans, educators, schoolchildren, cultural workers, and enthusiasts passionate about history actively helped in collecting exhibits, donating their personal belongings to the museum.

The museum's exhibition covers the history of the Kshen land from the mid-17th century to the present day. Significant attention is given to the history of the emergence and development of the Kshen village, as well as notable locals. The section dedicated to the Great Patriotic War contains materials about nine Heroes of the Soviet Union and four full cavaliers of the Order of Glory.

Every year, the Soviet Local History Museum receives more than 3,000 visitors.
