The Sosnovsky Museum, originally called the People's Museum, was founded at the initiative of party secretary, local historian, and member of the Union of Journalists of Russia, Evgeny Morozov. Its opening took place on October 7, 1978. In 1984, for its significant contribution to the preservation and popularization of historical and cultural monuments, as well as for patriotic education of youth and the development of museum affairs, the museum was awarded the honorary title of 'People's Museum.'

The museum has three halls where visitors can see a photograph of doctor A. D. Zapolsky, who advocated for the establishment of a unified school for boys and girls in Sosnovka. The museum's exhibitions detail the working lives of collective farms and state farms, and also include samples of awards for winners of socialist competitions. The modern life of the district is also reflected, with diplomas and trophies for participation in significant events both within the district and beyond. The main collection of the museum contains over 1,800 exhibits, most of which are displayed in permanent exhibitions.
