The museum was opened in 1987, with S. P. Kudyurov as its first director. It originated from a Glory Room established in 1985. The exhibition area of the museum occupies 284 square meters.
The Sosnovsky District Museum is located in the cultural and sports complex of the village of Dolgoderievensky in the Sosnovsky District. Since 1985, the formation of modern exhibitions has begun. Museum staff actively participated in the return of the building of the Holy Trinity Church of the Orthodox Church, collected historical relics, and worked with witnesses of events. With the support of the municipality, sponsors, and the regional local lore museum, the interiors were updated, new exhibitions were created, and modern computer technology was implemented.
The museum actively organizes events for people with disabilities of all categories and ages, using various forms and methods of work.
At the museum, lessons, lectures, discussions, and thematic excursions are conducted on topics such as geography, biology, local lore, and history.
The museum includes six thematic halls. The hall "Nature of the Native Land" is dedicated to the plant and animal world of the Sosnovsky District, as well as to natural resources. Here, stuffed animals and birds, collections of rocks and minerals, and archaeological finds are presented. In the Glory Hall, one can see portraits of participants in the Great Patriotic War, wartime documents, and military trophies. The exhibition hall is intended for competitive works, as well as regional and personal exhibitions of decorative and applied arts by masters from the Sosnovsky District. The museum halls are always filled with exhibits.
