The Sofia Women's Monastery, located outside the city of Rybinsk, is situated on a plain by the Korletz River. It was founded in 1860.

The monastery has stone churches:

1. The Cathedral Church, built in 1878, is located in the center of the monastery. It is a five-domed, two-tiered, cold church with two altars: the lower one is dedicated to Sophia, the Wisdom of God, and the upper one to the Resurrection of Christ.

2. In the northeast part of the monastery, there is a nine-domed church with three altars. The central altar is dedicated to the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow," the right one to Saint Nicholas and Saint Queen Alexandra, as well as to Saint Youth Misael and Saint Theodosius. This church was built in 1902 on the site of an old one.

3. In the southeast corner of the monastery, there is a warm, five-domed church with one altar, dedicated to the Uncreated Image of the Savior. It was erected in 1871.

4. In the monastery cemetery, there is a cold church with one altar, dedicated to the Holy Spirit and all Saints, built in 1892.

Holidays in the monastery are celebrated on August 15, on Thomas Sunday, October 24, April 6 and 23, December 17, September 9, August 16, as well as on the day of the Holy Spirit and the week of all Saints. All buildings of the monastery and churches were constructed with the funds of benefactors. Among the revered icons of the monastery are the icons of Saint Youth Misael, the Uncreated Image of the Savior, the Mother of God of the Three Hands, and Saint Archangel Michael, as well as a tomb with the relics of saints. In the city of Rybinsk, opposite the cathedral, a stone chapel was built in 1879.

The monastery owns 258 desyatins and 1210 square fathoms of land. There is a hospital and a shelter for sick and elderly sisters at the monastery. The monastery's capital amounts to 111,753 rubles in tickets.
