The church dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was built in 1689, but it was dismantled in 1868 due to its dilapidated state. With funds from D.I. Kludov, the main benefactor of the monastery, a new building of the Assumption Cathedral with three altars was constructed between 1868 and 1870. The main altar is dedicated to the Assumption of the Mother of God, the right altar to the "Tikhvin" icon of the Mother of God and St. David of Thessalonica, the heavenly patron of David Ivanovich Kludov, and the left altar to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. During the Soviet era, the building housed a workshop for the repair of agricultural machinery.

On July 9, 2009, on the feast of the Tikhvin icon of the Mother of God, the church was consecrated again after a long restoration. A beautiful faience iconostasis with expressive icons, made in the style of the 17th century, has been installed in it.
