For many years, there was not a single church in Kazan dedicated to this day; the nearest one was in Raifa. Also, no churches with ancient frescoes have survived in Kazan, although small fragments of original frescoes can be seen among the ordinary 19th-century paintings in the Annunciation Cathedral of the Kremlin. However, on Zilant Mountain, in place of an ugly iron hangar, where a ruined Assumption Church of the Zilant Monastery stood until the garage was built in the late 1920s, a cathedral has appeared, which is a copy of the Trinity Cathedral from the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. Even the patterned belt around its walls exactly replicates the Lavra's. The five-tiered iconostasis, made in the 'Rublev' style, is also almost identical to that in the Lavra, for which Andrei Rublev created 42 icons. The fifth tier of the iconostasis rests against the vaults and is slightly tilted towards the viewers with its ancestral faces. The masters of the artel of Evgeny Tupov painted the church based on the samples of Dionysius over two seasons. It seems that the images, just created, look at us through five centuries.

The church was built with the funds of the benefactor of the monastery, Natalia Vladimirovna Devyatykh, and was consecrated in June 2006.
