The Cathedral of the Savior Not Made by Hands is located to the northwest of the St. George Cathedral, with the wings of the Archimandrite's Corps of the St. Yurev Monastery adjoining it on the north and south sides. This building is a monument of 19th-century architecture.

Initially, in 1763, commissioned by Archimandrite Joannicius I, a stone church in honor of Alexander Nevsky and his brother Fyodor was built a few meters from the St. George Cathedral. In 1823, the church burned down, and on its foundation, the Savior Cathedral was erected in 1823-1824 using old masonry. The construction was commissioned by Archimandrite Photios, and the funds were donated by Anna Orlova.

The cathedral was built with two chapels: one for Saint Anna and another for Photios and Anikita. In 1830, a porch was added to the western side of the cathedral according to the design of the Novgorod provincial architect. In 1836, a church of the Praise of the Mother of God was arranged in the basement of the temple, where Archimandrite Photios and benefactor Anna Orlova-Chesmenska were buried. In 1841, a chapel dedicated to All Saints was added to the southern side, adjoining the chapel of Saint Anna. In 1848-1849, the cathedral was renovated, and in 1850, another chapel in honor of Alexius, Metropolitan of Moscow, was added to the northern side.

After the monastery was closed in 1929, the Savior Church along with the tombs of Photios and Anna Orlova was desecrated. The remains disappeared but were later miraculously found at the altar of the Annunciation Church in Arkazhi. During the Great Patriotic War, the Savior Cathedral suffered greatly, with all its domes destroyed. Restoration work took place in 1954-1956. The temple is currently active again.
