Until the mid-19th century, the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary changed hands between the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church multiple times. After the reconstruction in 1865, the church remained under the jurisdiction of the Orthodox Church. It was a church with twelve domes and three altars. In the 1920s, the church was closed, and its valuables were nationalized. During the Soviet era, the monastery grounds, where the cathedral was located, housed an orphanage, a school for children with developmental delays, and a hospital, while local residents used the church as storage facilities.

Only in 1993 was the cathedral returned to the Orthodox Church, and the monastery complex was revitalized. Today, it houses the Holy Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Men's Monastery. The main shrine of the cathedral is the icon of the Mother of God of Yuravichy-Merciful from the 17th century.
