In the 1930s, large-scale stone construction began at the monastery. According to the designs of Kostroma architect P.I. Fursov, a three-tiered bell tower 60 meters high was built above the brotherhood building, a five-domed four-column cathedral of the Nativity of Christ, and a chapel-rotunda over the holy spring near the monastery.
In 1919, the Bogoroditsko-Igritsky Monastery was closed. According to N.A. Zontikov, the monastery actually continued to exist for another 9 years. In 1928, the monastery was finally abolished. In the 1930s-1940s, all the monastery churches and the chapel over the holy spring were dismantled. Currently, only the ruins of the two-story brotherhood building and the lower tier of the bell tower integrated into it remain from the structures of the Bogoroditsko-Igritsky Monastery.
On June 25, 2003, on the day of the discovery of the Igritskaya icon, Archbishop Alexander of Kostroma and Galich held the first divine liturgy in the open air near the ruins of the brotherhood building in the last eight decades.
