The Intercession Church, previously located at the Balashov Intercession Women's Monastery, was built thanks to the efforts of Balashov merchant Illarion Ivanovich Ivanov and consecrated on July 13, 1862. It was made of stone, sturdy, and warm. In addition to the main altar, the church had an altar dedicated to St. Sergius of Radonezh the Miracle Worker, and there were sufficient church utensils.

Various buildings were associated with the church: a two-story stone building with an iron roof, which housed the sisters' cells, a dining room with bread and kvass; another two-story stone building with an iron roof, on the second floor of which was a chapel dedicated to the Kazan Mother of God and a room for the abbess, the head of the monastery, while below were the cells for the sisters. There were also wooden houses on a stone foundation, faced with brick and covered with iron, where the sisters of the monastery lived. In one of the wings, there was an orphanage-school, and in another, the priest of the monastery. There were stone houses for prosphora and a charitable institution, two wooden huts, a timber yard with a carriage house and stable, two gardens with fruit trees, and two ponds. Additionally, there was a wooden hut with brick facing, an iron roof, and a barn with a stone cellar. The church was surrounded by a stone fence with holy gates and two towers.

In 1927, the estate of the former monastery was transferred to the district health department. The building of the monastery cathedral was ordered to be dismantled, and the bricks were to be used for the construction of a hospital.
