The Neopalimovsky Cathedral, which previously served as the parish church of the village of Kulikovka, was built in the 1910s and consecrated in 1912.

For this temple, an icon of the Mother of God 'Burning Bush' was ordered from Mount Athos, which still bears the inscription: 'For the church in the village of Kulikovka.' The icon arrived in Simbirsk on August 15, 1911, and was ceremoniously welcomed at the railway station. The ceremony was attended by the clergy of the former All Saints Church, the governor, Prince Shirin-Shekhmatov, and many believers from Simbirsk and surrounding villages. Until the completion of the Neopalimovsky Church, the icon was kept in the All Saints Church, located in the area of the current Chkalov Cultural Center. Once it became the altar icon, it gained great popularity among the residents of Simbirsk, and many cases of healing are known. In gratitude for the miraculous help, believers brought gold jewelry to the Mother of God, with which the entire icon is adorned.
