Unfortunately, in our time, the historical heritage of Russia continues to be ruthlessly destroyed. Rostov-on-Don is no exception: over the past 10 years, 150 buildings have been demolished here, including the pre-revolutionary residential house of merchant Vikentiy Poltarak. In its place, an elite residential complex "House on Dmitrievskaya" was built. This can be called a crime against the historical heritage of the city and its residents.

The house of Vikentiy Poltarak was built in the 1890s in an eclectic style, combining elements of classicism and baroque. The name of the first owner of the house is unknown, but in 1913, Vikentiy Poltarak lived there with his family. After the arrival of Soviet power, the fate of the last owner remained unknown.

This house survived the Civil War, the disdainful attitude of the Soviet authorities towards historical heritage, and even World War II. However, in our time, it was destroyed, which caused discontent among local residents. Nevertheless, the attitude of the city authorities towards historical heritage has not changed.
