The sculptural composition 'Memory' depicts a grandmother sitting on a bench and knitting a long woolen sock. The nostalgic mood is created by the statue's pose: the grandmother looks up at the sky with a serene expression on her face. Next to her right foot lie two balls of yarn.

This composition was installed in 2005 in the square behind the M. S. Shchepkin Drama Theater. It weighs 300 kilograms.

According to the vision of Kharkiv sculptors Dmytro Ivanchенко and Taras Kostenko, 'Memory' symbolizes the fleeting nature of life. The sculpture was cast in Kharkiv and gifted to Belgorod.

The monument to the grandmother, named 'Memory', was unveiled in Belgorod on August 4, 2005, on the eve of the 62nd anniversary of the city's liberation from German occupation. Initially, it was meant to honor veterans of the Great Patriotic War, but later it became a tribute to all elderly residents of Belgorod.

A couple of months after its installation, the monument was vandalized: the grandmother's arm was torn off. However, the sculpture was quickly restored and returned to its place in the theater square.
