The Shadrinsk Local History Museum named after V. P. Biryukov, now a municipal institution, has its origins in the unique Shadrinsk Scientific Repository founded in 1918. The founder of the repository, ethnographer, archaeologist, and local historian Vladimir Pavlovich Biryukov, left a significant mark in the history of the Urals through his works on the region's history. In 1994, his name was assigned to the Shadrinsk Museum.

The museum has an extensive collection of exhibits reflecting the two-century history of Shadrinsk. The museum's paleontological and archaeological collections allow a glimpse into the distant past of the region. The museum's exhibitions cover topics such as "Settlement of the Region. Formation of the City," "History of the City of Shadrinsk Before 1917," "History of the City. 20th Century," "Nature of Our Region," as well as "Life and Work of Famous Natives I. D. Ivanov-Shadra, F. A. Bronnikov."

The exhibitions feature collections of stuffed animals and birds from the Trans-Ural region, paleontological and archaeological finds, antique furniture and wall clocks, works by the outstanding Soviet sculptor I. D. Ivanov-Shadra, pieces by Professor of Historical Painting F. A. Bronnikov, artistic cast iron products from Ural factories, porcelain and faience items from Russian and foreign factories of the 18th-19th centuries, paintings from the Russian academic school of the 18th-19th centuries, numismatics, and much more. The museum's funds contain over 60,000 exhibits.

The museum not only conducts traditional tours and lectures but also organizes walking and bus tours to the city's memorable and historical sites. Annual exhibitions of new acquisitions "Donors to the Museum" and exhibitions dedicated to the participation of Trans-Ural residents in the Great Patriotic War take place. The museum serves as an exhibition venue for artists and masters of decorative and applied arts. Since 2002, it has been a member of the Union of Museums of Russia. The museum is located in the modern center of the city, in one of the most beautiful architectural monuments of Shadrinsk with a rich history.
