On December 13, 2007, by the decree of Metropolitan German of Volgograd and Kamyshin, the "Men's Monastery of Saints Sergius and German of Valaam, Miracle Workers" was established. It operates in accordance with the Model Statute of the religious organization "Men's Monastery," which was adopted by the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church on April 1, 1999, and amended on May 30, 2011. The construction of the monastery began in 2005 and is being carried out by the Holy John the Theologian parish of the city of Volzhsky. The parish of Saint Apostle John the Theologian prepared the documentation for the construction of the monastery church and brotherhood building. In 2008, the city administration of Volzhsky provided land for free temporary use until 2013. In the same year, the brotherhood building and church were constructed. On January 20, 2009, a dome was installed on the church, and regular services began in 2009.
