In 1896, in the village of Sarsy, Perm Province, Krasnoufimsky District, Archimandrite Zosima Rashin founded a women's missionary monastery in honor of the Bogolyubskaya Icon of the Mother of God, receiving the blessing of St. Theophan the Recluse of Vyshensky. The monastery had a boarding school for boys, an orphanage for Merya girls, and a guesthouse for destitute baptized foreigners. The igumen's building housed rooms for missionary fathers who came for work and rest.

By 1900, the monastery had 90 residents. The chronicle notes that the sisters lived in complete obedience, unanimity, and friendliness. Work was distributed according to their abilities and strengths. In the monastery workshops, the residents engaged in weaving, handicrafts, bookbinding, icon painting, and embroidery. In 1902, Sister Evgenia Nogotkova was appointed acting abbess. By this time, there were already one hundred residents in the monastery and 25 girls in the orphanage.

In 1914, Sister Antonina Vygolova became the abbess of the monastery, leading a community of two hundred sisters.

During the October Revolution and the Civil War from 1917 to 1923, the monastery was attacked by representatives of the new authorities. After the establishment of Soviet power, the monastery's economy and property were transferred to an agricultural commune. The residents gradually left the devastated monastery, taking with them icons, books, and church utensils.

In the 1940s, the monastery buildings were finally destroyed.

On July 1, 2008, on the day of the celebration of the Bogolyubskaya Icon of the Mother of God, the Divine Liturgy was held for the first time at the site of the destroyed monastery. Since then, Divine Liturgies have been held here annually on July 1.

On July 1, 2014, with the blessing of Metropolitan Kirill, monastic life was resumed at the site of the former monastery, and a monastic community was established.

On October 22, 2015, the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church granted the community the status of Sarsin Bogolyubsky Women's Monastery, and Sister Pitirima Lisitsyna was appointed abbess.

On November 22, 2015, Metropolitan Kirill of Yekaterinburg and Verkhoturye consecrated the first monastery church in honor of the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God and elevated the abbess, Sister Pitirima Lisitsyna, to the rank of abbess.
