The Sarapul Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve, which is the successor of the Museum of History and Culture of Middle Prikamye, is considered the oldest institution in the Udmurt Republic. It was founded in 1909 by the decision of the Sarapul District Zemstvo. Today, the museum has unique and rich collections gathered over more than a century of history. Its holdings contain over 200,000 items.

Among the valuable exhibits, one can highlight ancient Egyptian ushabti figurines, the banner of the Napoleonic Guard, one of the first printed books in Russia, the "Teaching Gospel" of 1595, daguerreotypes from the 1850s, and a newsreel from 1912. The museum's art collection holds a special place.

Since 1921, the museum has been located in the building of the Nikolayev Four-Class School, which is a regional architectural monument and is designed in the Art Nouveau style.

Today, the Sarapul Museum-Reserve represents a modern museum complex that includes several memorial objects: the Historical and Local Lore Museum, the Art and Exhibition Complex "Dacha Bashenina", the Memorial House-Museum of Academician N. V. Melnikov, and the Children's Museum Center "Dacha Moshevitina."
