The building at Kryvokolenny Lane, 10 in Moscow is more commonly known as the Golitsyn Chambers. Until recently, it was considered an ordinary residential structure built in the 18th century. However, during the relocation of residents, a two-story foundation from the late 17th century was discovered, and stone layers from an even earlier time were found in the cellar. Experts concluded that this is likely the oldest residential building in Moscow.

Unfortunately, it has not yet been possible to determine who owned these chambers. It is only known that it belonged to a person who likely lived in the late 16th century. At that time, such chambers could only be afforded by wealthy citizens; perhaps it was a close associate of Ivan the Terrible, a military leader, or an official.

The history of the building is well traced from the early 18th century when it belonged to Catherine I's favorite, Reingold Gustav Löwenwald. In 1730, he played an important role in Anna Ioannovna's ascension to the throne. After his death, the building changed hands until it ended up with Prince Peter Golitsyn, who significantly remodeled it. Inside, tiled stoves and an iron staircase have been preserved. The estate has survived to this day in almost the same form. According to the memories of scholar Andrei Bolotov, the prince was fond of sciences and had a large natural history cabinet.

Later, the building was used as a music school, and during the Soviet years, it was converted into a residential building. For a long time now, the question of restoring the building has been discussed, and there were even plans to make it residential again, but so far, nothing has changed.
