Фото 1
The Russian section at the Serbian cemetery in Colma, a suburb of San Francisco, was established in the 1930s and 1940s. Currently, 95% of those buried here are Russian, totaling about 25,000 people. Among them are participants of the White movement, scholars, officials, and entrepreneurs. Here also rest sailors, Cossacks, artists, ballerinas, and singers. All of them found themselves far from their homeland against their will. Notable figures include the commander of the Ijevtsy, General Molchanov, the ruler of Eastern Russia, Spiridon Merkulov, Generals Vitkovsky and Vigran, as well as members of the Imperial family.
