The Russian house, opened in 1927, is located in the Kossonri country estate, purchased with funds from Miss Dorothy Paget. In the 1920s and 1940s, up to 250 retirees lived here. The founder and first President of the Association, which existed from 1927 to 1949, was Princess Vera Kirillovna Meshcherskaya. Her descendants continue to manage the Russian house.

In 2010, the Russian government allocated over 700,000 euros for the renovation of the building, which is used as a Center for the Study of the History of Russian Emigration.

The buildings of the Russian house, dating back to the 19th and 18th centuries, as well as the church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and a chapel for funerals, were placed under the protection of the French state in 2012. Here, portraits of emperors and a throne that were in the Russian embassy in Paris before France recognized the USSR are kept. The embassy was located in the d'Estrée mansion.

After the opening of a unit for Alzheimer's patients in 2013, 80 residents now live in the Russian house.
