Founded in June 2009, the "Russian Center" is the successor of the Russian Borodina Foundation, whose history dates back to the last century. The main goals of the center include the development of cultural, social, and economic ties between the Autonomous Province of Bolzano and Russia, strengthening the spiritual and cultural presence of the Russian diaspora in Europe, as well as fostering respect for Russian history and understanding the role of Russia and Russians in European history.

The "Russian Center named after N.I. Borodina, Merano" actively promotes the development of interregional relations by supporting the establishment of direct economic and cultural contacts between South Tyrol and various regions of Russia. The center organizes meetings of business representatives, scientific and practical conferences, youth exchanges, and interacts with compatriot organizations, public organizations, schools, and universities in Italy and Russia. By promoting Russian culture, the center not only helps preserve it in the diaspora but also unites people striving to maintain traditions, history, and friendship between nations for future generations.

A temple of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker operates at the center.
