Tanzania, a developing country, strives for a standard of living like that in Europe. However, this is not yet achieved: not all homes have electricity and water, and there are only two cinemas in the country. Nevertheless, you can meet our compatriots here.

If you find yourself on the streets of Dar es Salaam or any other city in Tanzania and speak Russian, be assured that someone from the locals will definitely approach you to converse in your native language. They will greet you with: "Hello! Are you from Russia? I studied in Volgograd..." Or in Rostov-on-Don, Moscow, Kharkiv; the geography can be quite diverse. Most often, "Russian-speaking" Tanzanians can be found in government institutions or manufacturing enterprises.

The Russian Center for Science and Culture in Dar es Salaam regularly hosts literary readings, where locals happily read poems by Pushkin and other Russian poets. An important direction of the center's work is the translation of Russian classics into Swahili. Gogol's comedy "The Government Inspector" is particularly popular in Tanzania.

Additionally, in July 2018, a supplementary education school in Russian was opened at the Russian Center in Dar es Salaam for children from Tanzania. The mothers chose a symbolic name for the school, "Gift of Speech." This name is very fitting, as the Russian language is a great gift that opens access to immense spiritual wealth. For those who will speak and read Russian fluently, it will become an important support in obtaining a good education and choosing a life path.
