The Russian-speaking community of Chicago has always been known for its vibrant cultural life. Performances, concerts, workshops, intellectual games, and tourist gatherings all created an atmosphere where Russian-speaking residents did not lack for communication and cultural events.

With the growth of the Russian-speaking population in Chicago, there arose a need for the establishment of urban cultural centers. Thanks to the efforts of two volunteer moms and the support of the local Russian-speaking community, the cultural and educational non-profit organization "Russian House in Chicago" was founded in 2017.

After two years of work, the organization opened the first Russian-speaking weekend school within the city limits. The idea of such a school was in demand among Russian-speaking families who could not attend institutions located in the suburbs. The school began its work on March 17, 2019, when 15 teachers conducted classes for more than 80 students.

Registration for classes began just a week before the first school day, but about 80 students immediately confirmed their participation in the two-month training cycle. The school offers education in Russian across many subjects, attracting numerous students. There are also creative sections operating here.

A special pride of the weekend school "Russian House in Chicago" is its team of teachers. All of them have professional education obtained from leading universities in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and the USA. Their many years of experience working with children in different countries allows them to combine modern innovative methods with classic systems of Soviet, post-Soviet, and American education. The school strives for a unique balance between play, discipline, and a serious approach to learning.
