Historically, most Russian compatriots in Cameroon reside in the Douala area, where the international port and a more developed economy are located. The association uniting these compatriots has existed for over 20 years and was officially registered in 2011.

The diaspora in Douala consists of about 70 people, mainly women with children who have married Cameroonian citizens. They lead active lives, work, develop creatively and intellectually, and pay great attention to family and raising children. Currently, the main activity of the Association is focused on the Russian Sunday School.

The Orthodox community in the region numbers over 200,000 people, most of whom live in Cameroon and southern Chad. In Chad, among the Orthodox, one can find not only Africans but also Russians and Ukrainians. In 2007, Orthodox missionaries conducted baptisms of local residents in the Central African Republic for the first time and established church communities there.
