The Russian club was established in 2009, starting its activities with a collection of one hundred books. The "Russian World" foundation learned about this initiative in Arizona and sent 700 books from Moscow. Subsequently, local Russian-speaking residents also began donating their books to the library. Now it is the largest collection of Russian literature in the state: the main library in Phoenix has about a thousand Russian books, while the Russian library has over 5,000.

The library features books for every taste: from history and Russian classics to foreign literature in Russian. Science fiction is particularly popular, and there is also children's and young adult literature, as well as contemporary Russian prose. One reader even read all the books on psychology and philosophy.

The Russian library is not just a collection of books, but also a club for Russian-speaking residents of Phoenix. Literary evenings and rehearsals of the Russian musical ensemble "Native Melodies" take place here. There was even a class on bead weaving. The idea behind creating the club was to give Russian-speaking children in Arizona the opportunity to learn the Russian language and culture, and to support cultural traditions and history. The club organizes joint picnics outdoors and celebrates traditional Russian holidays, such as February 23, March 8, and New Year.

Together with the Russian library-club, the Slavic Bazaar festival is held. The newspaper "Russian America" reported that on this day everyone could try traditional Russian and national dishes: okroshka, pies with cabbage and potatoes, dumplings, pilaf, shashlik, fresh honey from the apiary, cakes, pies, and much more. Guests came from other states and nearby cities such as Prescott, Tucson, Flagstaff, and Tempe.
